FISH FRY RECIPE - HAPPIEE EATZ
I have heard few saying that the marinated masala gets separated from the fish while frying. This has happened to me also me during initial days of my cooking. So I thought to share my FISH FRY recipe in this blog post. This recipe will not make your masala separate from the fish. I like to have it with sambar rice and rasam rice. Do try this recipe for fail proof Fish Fry😊
Preparation Time - 5 minutes | Cooking Time - 5 minutes | Marination time - min 2 to 3 hrs | Course - Side dish | Cuisine - South Indian | Servings -4
Ingredients:
- Refined oil - Required amount for deep / shallow fry
- Fish - 8 (if big) or 12 to 14 pcs ( if small)
- Red Chilly Powder - 3 tbsp
- Kashmiri Red Chilly Powder - 1 tbsp
- Corn Flour - 2 tbsp
- Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 /4 tbsp
- Tamarind pulp / paste - 2 tbsp
- Salt - Required amount
- Pepper Powder - 1 tsp
- Turmeric Powder - 1 tsp
- Water - Required amount to make thick paste
- Clean the fish thoroughly with turmeric powder and rock salt.
- Take a wide bowl or plate. Add red chilly powder, corn flour, pepper powder, kashmiri red chilly powder, salt and 2 tbsp of refined oil. Mix well.
- Gradually add water and mix it to a thick paste. It should not be watery since the masala won't stick well to the fish.
- Add the cleaned fish and marinate the masala well to the fish.
- Either keep the marinated fish in the refrigerator or sun dry for minimum 2 to 3 hrs.
- Take a kadai and add refined oil. You can either deep or shallow fry the marinated fish. So add oil accordingly.
- Heat the oil at high flame. Once the oil becomes hot, add the marinated fish.
- Fry it in medium flame and take out when the color changes to dark red. Your Fish Fry is ready to serve.

| Marinate the cleaned fish with prepared masala paste. Either refrigerate or sun dry for minimum 2 to 3 hrs. |

Add the marinated fish to the heated oil and fry in medium flame |

Fish Fry is done once the color changes like this. Transfer it to a plate with tissue to absorb excess oil. |
Note:
- Add red chilly powder according to your spice level.
- Don't forget to refined add oil while preparing the marination.
- Do not fry the fish when the oil is in low heat or else the fish will absorb more heat.
