Naatukozhi / Country Chicken Soup Recipe - Happiee Eatz

 

Naatukozhi / Country chicken soup is throat soothing comfy soup. It is watery and peppery kind of soup but yet healthy. Those who caught cold / fever and when the weather is chill, a hot bowl of soup will be heaven. For recipe, check below.

Preparation Time - 5 minutes | Cooking Time - 15  minutes | Total time - 20 minutes | Cuisine  - Indian  | Servings - 2

Ingredients:

1. Country Chicken - 1/4 kg (250 gms)

2. Shallots - 10 ( chopped) or Onion - 1 finely       chopped 

3. Tomato - 2 tbsp

4. Curry leaves - 4 ( finely chopped)

5. Ginger garlic paste - 1/2 tbsp

6. Oil - 1 tbsp 

7. Turmeric powder - 1 tsp

8. Rock salt - 1 tbsp 

9.Coriander leaves(handful)- finely chopped 

Powder to be prepared:

1. Dry red chilly - 1

2. Coriander seed - 1 tsp

3. Peppercorn - 1/2 tbsp 

4. Cumin / Jeera - 1/2 tbsp

Method:

Pre - Preparation:

1. Wash the chicken well with turmeric powder and rock salt.

2. Grind the ingredients given under ' Powder to be prepared ' list  in a mixie / blender finely.

Soup Preparation:

1. Add oil in a cooker. Let the oil gets heated.

2. Add the finely chopped shallots and saute until turns translucent at medium flame.

3. Add ginger garlic paste and saute at low flame until the raw smell goes off.

4. Add 2 tbsp of finely chopped tomatoes and saute until it becomes mushy 

5. Add cleaned country chicken, rock salt, turmeric powder and prepared powder. Mix it well with the chicken.

6. Add 1/2 litre of water and pressure cook for 5 whistle / until the chicken is cooked well. Switch off the flame

7. Open the lid after the pressure settles on its own.

8. Again heat the soup and add handful of finely chopped coriander leaves it. Heat it for 2 to 5 mins under medium flame if required.

9. Serve it hot in a bowl. Add pepper powder and salt if required.
